Mark Ellsbury was under the influence and shooting in and out of his townhouse on the 11900 block of Barrell Cooper Court in Reston when police were called to the scene around 1:35 a.m. Monday, April 8, according to Fairfax County police.

As officers approached the townhouse, additional gunshots were heard causing officers to take cover and request additional resources.

With the assistance of the FCPD's helicopter unit, officers saw Ellsbury outside his home holding a handgun while appearing to be under the influence, according to police.

Ellsbury fell to the ground and dropped the weapon, giving officers the opportunity to arrest him. No community members were harmed by the gunshots.
